Experience events at the Regina
In June, Biarritz transforms into a true cultural and creative crossroads. From the Regina Experimental, emblematic hotel of the city perched facing the ocean, visitors have direct access to the events that make the seaside city vibrate. Whether you are a fan of art cinema or of surf and motorcycle culture, two major events enliven the Biarritz scene in this early summer: the Biarritz International Film Festival – New Waves and Wheels and Waves. And to fully experience them, nothing better than staying at the Regina, both a haven of tranquility and ideal anchor point.
An ideal location, between city and horizon
Only a few minutes walk from downtown, from the beaches and the famous Grande Plage, the Hotel Regina Experimental Biarritz benefits from a privileged location on the heights, in peace, while being at the heart of the action. Overlooking the Biarritz lighthouse and the Atlantic Ocean, it offers spectacular panoramas over the Basque coast. The hotel is easily accessible by car, 10 minutes from Biarritz train station and about 10 minutes from the airport, which makes it an ideal starting point to explore the entire region, up to Saint-Jean-de-Luz or even San Sebastian.
New Waves Festival: Biarritz celebrates youth cinema
Dates: June 24-29, 2025
Driven by the energy and stories of new generations, the Biarritz International Film Festival – New Waves celebrates youth in all its forms. For six days, the city transforms into a space for creation, reflection and projection around this universal theme.
At the heart of the program: an international competition of eight feature films never shown in theaters in France, focused on the stories and issues carried by contemporary youth. In parallel, more than thirty films will be shown out of competition, with varied formats, ranging from cinema screenings to outdoor screenings on the beach, accessible to all.
The festival also stands out for its juries, composed exclusively of young talents: a jury of international artists under 35, a jury of film school students and a jury of Culture Pass recipients. All are gathered in Biarritz to exchange with the public around screenings, meetings and exhibitions, in an atmosphere that is both festive and engaged.
Wheels and Waves: free spirit blows over Biarritz
Dates: June 11-15, 2025
Another emblematic event of the month: the Wheels and Waves festival. For more than a decade, this hybrid event mixes vintage motorcycle culture, surfing, skateboarding, art and music in a spirit of fierce freedom.
It is one of the most anticipated events of the European alternative scene. You can meet there custom mechanics enthusiasts, artists, professional riders and creators, from all corners of the world. Between the flat track races, art exhibitions and outdoor concerts, Biarritz becomes for five days a giant open-air playground.
The Regina hotel is ideally located a few cable lengths from the Ocean City, one of the festival's key venues. From there, you can explore towards emblematic spots like Milady beach, or follow the old motorcycle parades in the city streets.
A luxurious interlude between two events
On the sidelines of this cultural ferment, the Regina Experimental welcomes you in a setting of unique charm, elevated by the touch of designer Dorothée Meilichzon. Its Frenchie Biarritz restaurant, orchestrated by chef Grégory Marchand, offers a creative menu anchored in Basque terroir, while the spa and bar under the atrium offer a welcome break after a day of screenings or festivities.
Luxury, comfort and discoveries
With its 72 rooms and suites, its spa, its golf across the street, and its hushed atmosphere inspired by great ocean liners, the Regina offers a complete experience. Whether it's a cultural getaway, a festival weekend or an extended stay to explore the Basque Coast, everything is within reach.
